Hello everyone,

Okay, this is something I wanted to post for a while now, after Yuri Pasholok posted two photos on his blog. Those of you, who play Soviet tank destroyers in World of Tanks, might remember the SU-85 and SU-100 elite guns. SU-85 has the 85mm D5S-85BM, while the SU-100 has the D-2-5S? But are they historical?

Yep, they are. Meet SU-85BM and SU-122P.

Hello everyone,

an interesting thing appeared on Yuri Pasholok’s blog. On the example of the IS-4, Yuri Pasholok demonstrates, how much can various projections differ from reality. He states that if someone claims some vehicle to be modelled after “factory drawings”, you don’t have to take that claim too seriously, because – if I understood what he wrote correctly, there is not only a significant difference between various book drawings and the final product, there is also a difference between the general factory drawings and the final product.

Basically, production plans consist of series of detailed partial drawings, by which the vehicle parts are created. General drawings however (as in, general overview, even though created by the same factory) tend to be much less accurate (this is apparently the reason why for example Wargaming preferred the partial IS-3 turret plans to the general model in the recent IS-3 turret changes).

Hello everyone,

today, I have a guest article from you from player sp15 (US forums), dedicated to Swedish heavy tank development. Enjoy!

Recently about 90 pages of information on the Krv project was found by EU and NA player Renhaxue. I’ve myself been working closely with him and I thought we might as well share the information we have now that we have the archived documents.

Probably the most famous Japanese heavy tank is the O-I, a 120 ton multi-turreted gargantuan monstrosity. There is something appealing to it to say the least. But maybe it was actually 140 tons. There reflects the difficulty about this tank.

To get started, I find it might be helpful to draw out the full extent of Japanese heavies. It could help put things in perspective. So real quickly, here is a list of all Japanese heavy tanks possible for WoT with a few handy facts for each. All are multi turreted except for the noted Heavy X which I do not know anything about. Armor is listed in a front/side/rear format if the numbers are available. Otherwise just the maximum armor is given. The 100 ton and the O-I will be discussed afterwards.

Hello everyone,

today, we have a nice guest article by Captain Nemo about the real vehicle project, that is in game known as the GW Tiger. I was actually quite impressed by the level of detail Nemo managed to get. Enjoy!

Outside at Proving Ground 003

I knew starting off that doing a “short” article on this subject would be hell and thought I

Waffenträger auf Panzer IV

Source: Yuri Pasholok’s blog

Hello everyone,

Yuri Pasholok (as a response to questions by Russian players) recently posted a short article about the WTP4 (that’s how I’m gonna cut it short anyway). Yes, it’s historical. Yes, it existed.

Waffenträger auf Panzer IV was designed by the Germans, not Wargaming. The vehicle that is in game was developed between the end of 1943 and the beginning of 1944. On paper, it had roughly the same parameters as various other similiar projects:

– speed at least 17km/h
– 360 degrees gun traverse
– using powerful but available guns with regular gun shields and allowed some side protection
– the possibility to demount the gun and put it on regular towed lafette
– minimal armor, around 8mm
