Interview with Jurij Rogach (model specialist)

Hello everyone,

Jurij (Yuri) Rogach is the lead modeller for World of Tanks and recently, people from Render.ru portal managed to make an interview with him. I’ll be summing up the information contained in this interview (just like I did it with Ola before), because translating literally is too slow.

– he comes from a small town in western Belarus, has two children – he joined Wargaming in July 2009 to start working on World of Tanks as Lead Tech-artist and in 2010 he moved on the position of “3D outsourcing manager” (managing 3rd part modellers, working on tank textures etc) – the amount of employees of WG is flowing, but it’s roughly 2000 people by now – WG will be hiring new specialists, but will be moving to another office, as the current offices are too small

Regarding the process of making tank models and maps:

Why was 3-caliber rule removed for HEAT?

Hello everyone,

just a quick “guide” – or more like explanation why there was a removal of the 3-caliber rule for HEAT shells in 8.9. What do patchnotes tell us?

– Removed the rule for HEAT shells that excludes ricochet if the shell’s calibre exceeds the armour thickness by 3 or more times.

– Deflection angle for HEAT shells changed from 80 to 85 degrees.

The “Turbopanther” – Panther Ausf.F mit Gasturbine

http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/10/19/the-turbopanther-panther-ausf-f-mit-gasturbine/

Hello everyone,

this will be possibly the last article about the Panther, as we covered pretty much everything that looks like an interesting option for the Panther. Only one “specialized vehicle” is left: the Turbo Panther. Of course, that’s not its real name, that’s a name SerB used for it. You see, SerB admitted (several times in fact), that there is a possibility (not guarantee), that the E-50 and E-50M will be merged into one vehicle on tier 10 (with rear-transmission E-50M being an optional hull for the E-50) and on tier 9, it might be replaced by something called “Turbopantera” – “the Turbo Panther”.

Upcoming tier 5 German TD – Sfl.IVc

Hello everyone,

you might have seen the earlier supertest leak regarding the upcoming tier 5 tank destroyer, the Sfl.IVc. In game it will look like this.

Does it look retarded to you? Of course it does. There’s no point in creating such a huge box and putting a cannon in front. Huge silhouette would guarantee discovery. So, how come Germans built such a vehicle?

STB-1, Japanese tier 10 medium tank

来源: http://ftr.wot-news.com/2013/08/31/stb-1-japanese-tier-10-medium-tank/

Author: Soukoudragon, Daigensui

Hello everyone, today we have another article from Soukoudragon, (revised by Daigensui) this time about (sort of confirmed) Japanese tier 10 tank. Enjoy!

After the culmination of many tested core components, the STB-1 was completed in 1969. The STB-1 was the first of two development phases in the development of the Type 74. Despite its technical and rather unimposing name, the first phase was an ambitious and successful creation while the second phase was largely about taking a katana to the cost of the tank while improving endurance and reliability. The STB-1 is indeed an imposing tank and would be a very competitive tier 10 tank in World of Tanks.
