as was announced a long time ago on FTR, there was a plan to switch the T18 to become artillery and to replace it with something else. That time has come (and not just that, you’ll see). The T56 is a part of these changes, the rest will be revealed soon.
很久很久以前呢，FTR上曾经说过有计划把T18弄成火炮，然后再拿另一个车顶上T18位置的这么个计划。现在时日已到（而且计划不仅如此，各位等着看吧）。T56是整个计划的一部分，剩下的内容近期会公布。

The program of the development of a three inch-carrying SPG based on a light tank chassis was started in September 1942. In November, the first prototype was sent to the Aberdeen proving grounds for testing. A conclusion was made based on the test results that the gun is too heavy for the chassis. The vehicle was not mass-produced.
