The project of this tank was developed in 1943 with 400 vehicles ordered. The prototype was built on the AC I tank hull with the hull part under the turret made wider, which allowed to install the modified AC III tank turret with a 17pdr. The work on the prototype was cancelled in July 1943 in connection with the termination of the development program to create an Australian cruiser tank.
